I’ve been in the same job since college. I’ve played it pretty safe.
Shortly after I got married, and heading into my 9th consecutive year in the grueling world of consulting – I thought to myself, “damn… times-a- ticking and I probably need to do this baby thing soon. There’s so much I want to do and there’s no way I can do all those things with my current corporate situation.” So I decided right then, that I was going to request to take sabbatical. I decided to start with 3 months, and although that seems like a decent chunk of time, it’s actually not that long.
It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with my time. I decided that I wanted to be productive and wanted a physical goal and an educational goal. Why not actually do all the things I always said I never had time for? For my physical goal, I started to search for epic hikes and landed on the Camino del Santiago. An 800km (500mile) journey across the top of Spain. And so here we go! I will be documenting my journey via this blog so I can look back someday and re-read the thoughts of 31 year old Lauren on her journey across Spain.
